Industrial acceleration Plan: textile gains three new ecosystems

Within the industrial Acceleration Plan, the textile industry has just added three new ecosystems. Indeed, three new textile ecosystems in “Mesh”, “Home Textiles” and “Textile for technical use” were launched this Thursday, October 6, in Casablanca.
The performance contract regarding these three new ecosystems, signed by Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment and the Digital Economy, Mohammed Boussaid, Minister of Economy and Finance, and Karim Tazi, President of the Association Marocaine des Industries Textile and Clothing (AMITH) founded three major objectives of growth in 2020. The three structured fields mentioned above should create 16,763 jobs; achieve additional 8.4 billion Dhs of which turnover is 2.75 billion Dhs in exports and finally create 20 investment projects carried by locomotives.

Moreover, according to the ministry responsible, “the organization of these three new textile sectors in functioning ecosystems will enhance their strengths while providing concrete answers to the challenges they still face, namely, improvement of competitiveness of Moroccan offers, the development of the upstream value chain and innovation to better position themselves in the local market and pick up its growth, development of an integrated offering for the benefit of locomotives, boosting investment in high value-added activities and the integration of informal operators. ”
On this occasion Moulay Hafid Elalamy said that “the three new textile ecosystems will complement the comprehensive and integrated vision developed for the sector and provide it a more intense growth, improved competitiveness and a stronger positioning in exports and the local market. ”
“since the launch in February 2015 of the first textile ecosystems, a real dynamic in investment has been experienced in the sector: 36 investment projects amounting to 1 billion 138 million Dhs and generating 20,673 jobs have been initiated. ”

The textile sector in figures:

– 165 000 permanent jobs (27% of national employment)
– 1 billion parts produced per year
– 31.4 billion DH in terms of export turnover in 2015
– 1,200 companies (mainly SMEs and micro-businesses)
