Manufacturers remain hopeful

The appreciation of enterprises’ leaders for the first quarter are rather assuring, it’s what revealed the Moroccan economic quarterly survey for the mining industry, environment and energy sectors. The production index registered an increase of 2.1% in the first quarter as compared to last year the same period. The increase is the result of the increase in the chemical industry of 2.3% and 4.8% for food industries and 3.4% for non-metallic mineral products. Mineral production registered an increase of 9.4% resulting from the increase of the production index of “byproducts of the mining industry” of 9.7% and that of metallic minerals by 1.9%. The electric energy production index registered an increase of 2.1%. whereas, the production index of metallic products registered a decrease of 7.2%, that of metal works products; 4.0%, that of textile industry 8.2%, furniture and other industries 5.4% and rubber and plastic products 1.4%. results that are to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
